MSW CRICKET

Rep Program

MSW has a long and successful history of developing local junior cricket talent in the region. The goal is to give committed young players the opportunity to develop their skills through a number of different formats in a team environment. The player and teams future development is at the core of our program.

Selection Criteria

Selectors will be looking to construct balanced sides that allow players to contribute to both T20 and 50 over formats were required.

The below is a guide only and is not the only criteria.

The Player

  • Future potential
  • Understanding of the game
  • Attitude/commitment/team oriented
  • Character/accountability/resilience/work ethic
  • Respect to the game, players and officials.
  • Adherence to MSW Code of Conduct (see website link)

Batters will be assessed on the following:

  • Scoring options to both pace and spin
  • Ability to rotate the strike
  • Boundary hitting
  • Construct an innings
  • Play to the game situation
  • Running between wickets

Bowlers will be assessed on the following:

  • Swing & seam (quicks)
  • Flight & spin (spinners)
  • Pace (quicks and spinners)
  • Consistency
  • Variation
  • Repeatable action
  • Bowl to the game situation

Wicket Keepers will be assessed on the following:

  • Consistency
  • Endurance
  • Soft Hands
  • Footwork
  • Game awareness

All players will be assessed on Fielding

  • Catching
  • Throwing speed and accuracy
  • Anticipation and movement
  • Game awareness
  • Run saving

MSW Qualification Criteria

MSW ask all players participating in the MSW Representative Program to play a higher standard of cricket, display the

attributes of a representative cricketer, and meet MSW qualification criteria, a player must:


• Be registered with a MSW affiliated Club

• Be nominated by their MSW affiliated Club

• Attend all the trials

• Attend all practice sessions and trial games

• Play a minimum of 5 days in the current Pre-Christmas MSW season

• In lieu of 5 days in the MSW season, all regular season Lord Taverners games which are played on the same weekend as MSW competition games, shall count towards eligibility but only at UQ, South’s or Wests (not including pre-season T20 or practise games)

• Any deviation from eligibility criteria is by application to the MSW management committee.


Please Note: SE Youth Cup and BPL are NOT a Queensland Cricket sanctioned competition.


If a player fails to meet any of the above criteria, then they will not be eligible to represent MSW. A player may be withdrawn by the MSW Management Committee at any time leading up to a carnival. If a player has a valid reason why they could not meet the above criteria, they may submit a written request to the MSW Committee for exemption. This request needs to be

submitted as soon as possible to the event. The MSW Committee will have sole discretion in determining if a player’s absence from a MSW commitment is valid, based on the available information and the player’s request. Please note that non-Queensland Cricket or Queensland Junior Cricket sanctioned matches will not meet the criteria of an exemption.
